Mail: box with X and a dash on top

I get a box with an X in it and a dash on top of the box. It appears right after the senders name, in emails where I have made a Rule to block that sender's emails and send them to Trash. How do I get Mail to Trash the emails without me having to do it? I get approximately 150 unwanted junk emails a day.
