Why are Messages from Senders Marked Block Still Appearing in My Email?

I am being bombarded with junk email. I've hit the "block" button on the emails, I've added all their info into my "Rules" option, and the junk is still showing up. What good are the "block" options and "Rules" if the junk senders are still able to clog my In Box with their junk?

This feature(?) is very misleading. It really does not block any email, only redirects to junk folder.

I believe I have now found a solution.

First block the sender (remember to also block any different 'reply to' email addresses within the same email, which they may also use to contact you on later)

A 'hand' now appears in the email - to show it is now blocked.

Apple Mail now adds a line to all your incoming 'blocked' emails that says 'this message is from a blocked sender'

So now create a new rule that sends all emails with that content to junk.

That worked for me on 99% on such blocked senders

If it doesn't work again on the odd email - and it still appears in your email - just 'apply rules'

(Blocking alone does not seem to be an actual 'rule' - just an visual 'stamp' simply designed to alert you to where it is from.

Try turning off Mail in iCloud (>System Settings>AppleID>iCloud>Mail— verify you have rules set up locally on the Mac only.

Rules added in the web-mail interface may render local rules moot.

If Junk mail is not working for you as expected you can turn it off in Mail>Settings.

You have the option of installing a third party spam filter. ex.

there are others of course:

I think I have solved this.

If a blocked email still arrives in your junk, with the 'red hand' sign - and the message 'this message is from a blocked sender' on the email itself (see pic ) you need to select this email and create a new rule specifically sending 'blocked sender' to the bin (see other pic)

This creates a new rule to send all such future emails direct to the bin - and worked a treat on my Mac
