Photo's saying a person is in a photo, but they are not - can't reject either!

hi,

I am a big user of the people/face recognition element of photos. There are a few instances where photos says that a person is in a photo, but they are not.

None of the face names (the circles that appear around the face) show the person it says is in the picture. When you try to reject the face - right click and hit "John is not in this photo" nothing changes.

Looking at the metadata of an eg image in preview, it shows that "PersonShown" value as "John".

Is there a way to fix this? I have tried repairing library, but the issue persists. I am thinking of using a metadata editor, but worried this may cause issues w/ iCloud Photos etc?

any help gratefully received!!

You may want to open the People albums for all faces thumbnails shown below the photo, where it showing a thumbnail of john below the photo and look at all photos in these people albums. One of these albums may have a wrong keyframe, with the wrong person. Photos may have merged the albums for two people and a photo of John may have been added to a wrong person. If that should be the case, you have to weed out photos of John, that are in a wrong album and fix the key photos for all people albums.
