Contacts keeps forgetting what is home and what is work.

I had the same issue as well some time ago and then I noticed, that I had a duplicate contact-card.

So I simply removed the duplicate one and reassigned home-address, work-address (and so on) again.

Is this happening with all contacts or just certain ones? 

Also, are any of your contacts saved to another mail service? If you’re unsure, let’s go to www.icloud.com

Log in with your information and then view the contacts. Are all contacts showing here or just some of them?

If all contacts are listed here as expected, you will want to reach out to Apple Support here: Contact - Official Apple Support

If they are not all listed here, you will want to view the other email accounts on your device and see which one the other contacts are saved under.

I have the same problem. I have tried to relabel for example my personal contact card with proper 'Home' and 'Work' labels to be able to use Maps with Siri. Did same categorization with phone numbers, emails.. and independent if I do this exercise with Mac (latest version), iOS (latest version), iCloud.com .. the result is everything is synced just fine and labels are updated everywhere. However, after a day or two, something somewhere resets everything to generic labels meaning 'phone' for phone numbers, 'address' for all the addresses, 'email' for all the email addresses. Even more weird, when this reset happens it looks like Mac / iPhone / iCloud.com at this point get different version of truth and depending the device some use generic labels, some random labels, some what not.

What gives?!?!

OP - did you ever get a resolution to this? I have the same issue and it’s driving me crazy.

I went to log an issue but I find it impossible as the categories you can log an issue against don’t cover this sort of issue.
