connecting MBPro M2 to tv through hub: tv only shows photoselection but no video

I connected my new laptop MBP M2 to a tv to watch a video. But the tv only shows photos from my screen saver collection. It sees nothing else on my laptop.

What can I do? Does it have anything to do with the fact I'm using a hub?

version MacOS 12.5

If you have a clear stable picture on the TV, then everything is working as designed.


As designed, the TV is not a replica of the built-in display, but an extension of the built-in display, along one edge. You can charge which edge and the relationship between the two displays. This is called "extended desktop" and can be manipulated in:


system preferences > displays > arrangement:
