How you do this depends on whether your Samsung smart TV supports Apple AirPlay2.

What model is your Samsung TV? I can probably look it up and determine if AirPlay2 is supported.

If not, you can use an HDMI cable and connect your MacBook to an HDMI port on the back of your Samsung TV. (If you don't have one, you'll need an HDMI adapter for your MacBook Air. This One is available at Apple online. If you don't need everything that one offers, Here is a less expensive option from Amazon).

I cannot get my new MacBook Air (Sonoma 14.4.1) to connect with my new Samsung Smart TV using an HDMI cable. I do have a Thunderbolt HDMI adaptor plugged into my MacBook Air for the HDMI connection.

I want to use my TV as an external display, but not with AirPlay. I was able to do this, using an HDMI cable, with an older Samsung TV, and with other TVs, over the past several years. It was simple; connect the HDMI cable and it worked. I could, in the Mac's System Preferences, select to use the TV as an external display, or mirror my Mac screen.

I do select the proper HDMI source on my TV. When I plug in the HDMI cable, the display on my MacBook changes resolution (very small; hard to read). But, the TV will not display my MacBook screen.

Here is what I want to accomplish:

*Have Jango.com radio on my TV

*Open a document on my laptop and slide it over to my TV, on top of the Jango.com radio website, for viewing and editing

*Listen to Jango.com radio website music via the TV speakers, view and edit a document on the TV, while still using my MacBook Air for other work like Email, Google Search, Facebook, financial accounts, etc.

I have read that the new Samsung Smart TVs do not interface well with Apple products.

Does anyone know how to accomplish this? Thanks!

I am a novice at this, so suggestions and instructions need to be easy to understand and follow. :-)
