Deleted iCloud email rules are still being applied

Someone already posted this problem, but it's closed, so I'm "starting the conversation again".

Deleted iCloud Mail rules are still being… - Apple Community

There is a rule running on my iCloud email (website iCloud.com) that does not exist. When I receive an email to one of my email aliases, it automatically gets moved to a folder named "1000". Even if I delete that folder, the folder will get recreated and the email moved to that folder.

Things I've tried:

  1. I deleted ALL of my other email rules, still happens.
  2. I tried recreating the rule new and deleting it, still happens after the rule is deleted.
  3. I tried recreating the rule, then changing the folder the email is routed to (that worked), then deleted the rule. But after that rule is deleted, email goes back to being routed to the "1000" folder.

While trialing these tests, I, of course, made sure I did not have the Mac Mail app running, even though there is no rule on my Mac that moves anything to a folder named "1000". (I checked to make sure!)

Any other ideas? I likely created this rule at one time whilst testing something, but I definitely deleted it (as evidenced by it not being there). Feels like the rule is still there somewhere in the background and I just have no access to it.

I had to pick a device but this problem has nothing to do with my device at all.

Yes, I did that in addition to posting here. Considering there is a "me too", I assume *Apple* must look at these in some way.

I will report back once I hear more from Apple Support regarding this problem. I started with chat support, transferred to a 1st level phone support, transferred to a "senior advisor" or something like that who still couldn't fix it but at least somewhat understood the problem. He gathered a bunch of info for the tech engineers and will get back to me in a week.

There's a bug. Period. Because in order to make my rules look as clean as possible, I deleted *all* of my rules. When I did that, most did delete properly, but there is actually now one other rule that is still running *somewhere*. I didn't mention that one to Support because I'll eventually recreate that one because I need it, plus it might flush itself out in a day or so - I've seen that happen. The one I mention originally has been lingering for months. I'm sure they'll just end up deleting some rows in a database that are my personal "lingering" rules. It'd be nice if they actually fixed the bug though (thus why I posted here).
