Delete Application

Application download from finder does not work to my liking. Tried deleting it from application folder but app says that I can't without a password. I never entered a password. What can I do?

The password being asked for is the login password of the user.

If the user has no assigned password, just press the Enter key.

i entered my Apple password; did not work; i just hit entered; kept popping up with password request. Restarted Mac - that did not clear this up
