Can't remove iCloud email address

I have been getting 50 or so junk emails per day at my @me.com address with the majority being unapprobiate emails. This article says we can delete that alias. I can not, and apple engineering says I can not, Any suggestions? Thanks

My @me.com Account FILLED with spam from the iCloud.com address. HELP! My @me.com Account FILLED with spam from the iCloud.com address. How can I remove the iCloud.com account without deleting the @me.com account? It's really insane. Even with the spam filter on. Im missing real emails, and Im getting over 200!! spams an hour. How can I make this madness stop! I have had my @me.com address for a LONG time and use it as my main email.

iCloud email compromised General Motors was hacked several months ago and user accounts were compromised. As a result, I am getting nearly 200 phishing emails per day. Nothing stops these emails, many of which go into the junk folder but I still get dozens into my inbox. I would like to delete this mailbox to stop these criminals. My name is specific to this email address but my iCloud account was set up years ago using my gmail email address. I’m not sure how I can delete the iCloud email address. Going to the Genius Bar in Fort Worth, Texas to try and fix this did nothing (it is a six hour round trip drive, and what a wasted day that was…)

Subsequently I have learned that @me.com is not an aliase but rather an email address which can't be removed. So apple doesn't care if we continue to get inappropriate sex emails that our grand children can accidentally see. Thanks for nothing apple!!!!!
