iPhone Mail not refreshing

I have an iPhone 13 Pro running ios 16.3 for the last few weeks my email has stopped working properly. Anytime I get an email unless I go to the mail app and refresh it myself I do not get any sort of notification. Previous to this I would get an alert each time an email would come in. Now nothing happens.

It might be worth just checking in Settings > Mail > Accounts > Fetch New Data:

to ensure that FETCH is not set to Manually.

Thank you but this did not work. If I don't go into the mail app a refresh it myself I will not get any mail. In the past if I got mail my phone would alert me right away, not I am not getting any alerts to let alone any mail. So now I have to go into the mail icon pull down to refresh 2 or 3 times then all my mail will pop on in.

I have done the following to try and fix

power off phone

delete Gmail account and readd

reset network settings

reset all settings

My wife has the same phone and the same Gmail account and she does not have that problem.

We understand that you're no longer receiving notifications from the Mail app. First, let's verify your settings to ensure that notifications are set properly:

  1. "Go to Settings  > Mail > Notifications, then make sure that Allow Notifications is on.
  2. Tap Customize Notifications, then tap the email account you want to make changes to.
  3. Select the settings you want, like Alerts or Badges. When you turn on Alerts, you have the option to customize your sounds by changing the alert tone or ringtone.

You can set times when you want to allow notifications from the Mail app. See Change notification settings."

More details here: Set email notifications on iPhone

If everything is set properly, we suggest that you restart your phone. This seems like a simple step but it refreshes your device and the software. Often time this can help resolve issues related to the software: Restart your iPhone

Let us know if this helps.

Stay safe and well.
