Name and password

My dad purchased an iMac refurbished from Kogan and it's asking for a name and password when we turn it on, but we don't know what it is and no matter how many times I've reset or reboot it and it still just goes back to that screen asking for a name and password We have emailed the company with no reply. Is there a way to bypass this?

This I what the Store or privately owned entity is supposed to do Before selling, giving away any Apple Computer.

To be technical, they are supposed to turn the computer back to its' Original Stated as when it was First Own of the Box as New.

That could mean, reinstalled the Original Version of OS X or macOS that the computer Originally Shipped with.

They They have not done this before selling and you are hard pressed to be the machine under your Direct and Complete Control - sorry but it falls to the New Owner ( you ) of this machine to perform the below actions

🛑 Return it for a refund A.S.A.P. ⚠️

Never purchase from a stranger because it could possibly be stolen and no one has the ability to override the security measures.

Apple values your privacy and has safeguards in place to ensure that no one can access the device.

You will need to reach out to the owner because it is the owner’s responsibility to properly erase the device before selling it.

Until then, it is locked. 🔐
