How do i know my iMac's name and password?

my iMAC desktop is asking for a name and password newest model

Depending on the context here, there can be a couple of different answers...


Is this a new-to-you Mac?


Or is this Mac one that you've been using for a while?


If it is the former, you'll want to erase and re-install macOS. You'll have various problems with this Mac if you don't.


Erase and reinstall macOS - Apple Support


If the latter, the username is usually your full name as you type it, and whatever you set as a password.


If you've forgotten your password, here is how to reset it:
