Unable to update to tvOS 16.3 on Apple TV 4K

I have an Apple TV 4K (1st generation), 64GB running tvOS 16.2 that I can't get upgraded to 16.3.


I tried giving the device a full power cycle, and I still can't get it to update. A few seconds after starting to prepare the update, I get:


"The update was not successful." and "Try again later".


I also tried turning on "Get Beta Updates", but it looks like there's no newer version to try installing.


Anyone else having this problem? Normally I'd just leave it alone, but we're also having an odd issue with Apple Music where it randomly pauses and I was hoping 16.3 fixed it.

You seem to have already done some excellent troubleshooting steps. In general, I would advise against going beta for randomly trying things, unless you love beta testing, as that can easily break other functionality that you may find important.

The support document on updating does mention:

The staff would be able to give advise on what to do next.
