Time Machine to older os

Let's say that i want to backup using time machine from mac that running ventura os, could i restore the time machine to older mac that running monterey/bigsur? does/will different os version affect the data? thank you

my data is from M2 baseline macbook air and im going to restore it to Macbook 12" retina early-2016

Time Machine not working on Ventura Hi im trying to restore a Time Machine backup on my 2019 iMac. I choose restore from Time Machine backup but it says "You must use Migration Assistant to transfer data from this backup" saying I need to reinstall OS. You can't install MacOS versions older than the one which was initially installed on the machine. So I presume this is true for a restore.
