Why does Apple Mail put Contacts into Spam?

Apple mail is now putting many of my emails from known contacts into the Spam folder. This seems to be recurring but varies. I have the setting set to not do that. It wastes a lot of time to go through the Spam folder and find the occasionally important emails from known contacts there.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 13.2

Are you referring to Apples "Junk" folder or you are using a third party "Spam" filter...?

If Junk mail is not working for you as expected with no resolve, you can turn it OFF in Mail>Settings...

You do have an option of installing a third party spam filter.. I have never had an issue using for ex.
