Messages app on iMac still won't send photos, but I can send them with my iPhone
When I drop a photo from my desktop or Photos app into a Message, it appears as if it's sending, but the recipient doesn't get anything. On my phone, however, I get a small blank text bubble where the photo should be. I've also tried to sharing photos directly from the photos app to no avail. I've searched this issue on other forums, but haven't gotten a solid answer. This has been happening for a few years (and on at least 2 OS versions) and I keep hoping it'll be fixed with an update, but no luck.
One post said to delete the .db files, but I'm haven't done that as I'm unclear what that'll do. Macbook not sending pictures in IMessage … - Apple Community
I'm still trying to learn if deleting the .db files will delete my message history, which I don't want to lose. I'm also not sure if i'm supposed to delete that ending in .db and also the .db-wal and .db-shm. I'm getting mixed info:
For example, this article says to delete the .db files to remove your chat history: https://macpaw.com/how-to/delete-all-messages-mac
But this article says the data is stored elsewhere (although it's describing iChat, which is outdated): iMessages still show after deleting Chat.… - Apple Community
It might be worth noting that I've migrated my stuff to newer machines using Time Machine since 2008, so I'm wondering if there's some setting that's carrying over and screwing something up.
Any help would be much appreciated!
