Unable to add printer

I have a MacBook Pro 2017 13". Our hard drive went out so had it replaced (at an Apple authorized dealer). We are now running Ventura 13.1.

After migration of everything off the Cloud, the printer did not show up. It is a HP Officejet 5600 All-in-One (yes, I've had it a while but it works and perfect for current needs).

It let me add the printer but it doesn't 'see' it. If I print, it flashes on the bar but then disappears.

I went to the HP site to download the driver but Ventura is not an option. Also our printer does not have AirPrint capability.

Do I have to buy a new printer or is there some way to add it? Thank you so much for any help/advice. -Carolyn

Hi CouldBeLarry,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with setting up your printer after you had your Mac repaired. We'd like to help.

When adding a printer to a Mac that is not an AirPrint printer, you will want to try a few things, including checking with the manufacturer. We know you've done some of those steps already so let's make sure you've done them all.

Have you followed these steps to try to connect your printer another way? There are options to connect as a USB printer, a Wi-Fi or network printer, using the IP address of your printer or a Bluetooth printer. See if any of these options work for you: Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac - Apple Support

Then, check to see if there is an app in the App Store for your specific printer manufacturer. Sometimes that can be an easy way to get your printer connected to your Mac.

Finally, check out other options you have through the manufacturers website. We were able to look there and came up with this that may be helpful: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-5600-all-in-one-printer-series/441142/document/c03785459. This may help since there are no drivers for the Mac/macOS combination you have.

If you continue to have issues, we recommend that you work with HP on this to see if they can help further.

Take care!
