Continuous play on tv app with 16.2 update

With the 16.2 update the tv shows I’ve downloaded on the tv app will no longer constantly play back to back… it cuts off after a few episodes and you have to tap the play next. Is that here to stay? I like the continuously play function.

I appreciate the response, but unfortunately it was not helpful. I have downloaded 16.3 and restarted my iPad, but it seems like it’s a new feature with the tv app, like the Netflix thing where it says “are you still watching” after a few episodes in a row. Now the tv app will not play continuously like it did before the 16.2 update. Now after several episodes, it will not automatically play the next episode - you have to tap “play next” and then it will play the next several episodes in a row. Does that make sense?

Understood Andee3DLB,

If you want to watch a long string of content, you can set up Apple TV Up Next. This way there's a queue of shows that it will continue through. Per Explore Watch Now in the Apple TV app - Apple Support:

  1. "On the Watch Now screen in the Apple TV app select an item to see its rating, description, available viewing options, and purchase or rental information.
  2. Select Add to Up Next.
  3. A notification appears confirming that the item has been added."

Cheers!

Hello Andee3DLB,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. If you're using an iOS device, such as an iPhone we can recommend some steps to see if we can get this issue sorted out. First, follow these steps here:

1.) Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support

2.) Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

These steps usually help refresh things. You can also try to delete one of the affected TV shows and redownload it. Then see if the issue continues to occur. If it does, you might want to consider updating your iOS version. Apple recently released iOS 16.3. Updates usually include various fixes. Just in case, this resource can guide you through the update process: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly
1.) Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2.) Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3.) Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4.) If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5.) Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

We hope these steps are helpful. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Take it easy.
