HP Printers no longer recognised with Monterey 12.6.2

The HP printer on the local wireless network disappeared overnight (Monterey 12.6.2).

However you can print to it from another Mac on the network (Ventura) or from an iPad - and HP Instant Ink can connect to the printer.

The printer interface says 'printer not responding' and HP Smart either shows the printer off line or there is a spinning icon.

I suspect that this is an issue with 12.6.2. and HP printers ...

Any suggestions welcome!

Hi,

To begin with, any change after the following power-cycle sequence (do not forget the router)?

Power off the Wi-Fi router, the printer, the Mac computers, the iPad, and all other connected devices/computers. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the Mac computers. Power on the iPad. Finally, power on all other devices/computers.

Also, you may want to post back with the exact HP printer model.

If necessary, try a printing system reset:

Reset the printing system on your Mac to solve a problem – Apple Support (UK)

Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac – Apple Support (UK)

Thank you for the information.

The HP OfficeJet 6950 All-In-One and HP DeskJet 2600 All-In-One Printer are both listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support as models supporting the driverless AirPrint technology. An AirPrint-enabled model is compatible with macOS, and can be used without additional drivers, provided that the printer and the Mac computer are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router). The basis for AirPrint device discovery is mDNS/Bonjour. In case one or more devices/computers are not properly recognised, a power-cycle procedure is often the first step to try. Hence, the above suggestion.
