iTunes matching wrong version of song

Hi. I know I’m far from the first person to ask this, but iTunes is consistently matching the wrong version of a song & I can’t find a solution that works.

I’ve ripped a cd onto my pc using iTunes (Prince’s 1999) but when it uploads to iCloud, it’s matching to a different version of the title track (on the album it segues into the next track, but the matched version fades out a few a seconds earlier).

I’ve tried deleting & reuploading the track with a different name, & converted it to a different format, but no joy. Any ideas? (Beyond just listening to the album on Apple Music obviously!)

Hey iainr999,

We'd recommend reviewing the information in this article as it provides steps to adjust fade settings for music: Fade between songs in Music on Mac

  1. "In the Music app  on your Mac, choose Music > Settings, then click Playback.
  2. Select Crossfade Songs.
  3. To change the amount of time it takes for the current song to fade out at the end and the new song to fade in, drag the Seconds slider."

If that doesn't help, we'd recommend contacting Apple Support for further assistance here: Get Support

Thanks!
