Mac needs update to connect to iPhone but updates wont load?

Hello. Every time I connect my iPhone 14 pro to my 2020 IMac (Big Sur 11.7.2) to back it up I get this prompt (See image A.) and when I click "install" the little window pops up and never downloads anything (See image B.). It just sits there forever with no change. My iPhone is up to date, so I'm confused. Also, when I try to check and see if my Mac needs an update, a window pops up and it just keeps spinning and never shows if I need one (see image C.) Any ideas or help would be awesome. Thank you!!!

I have reason to believe this is a bug that Apple needs to fix. Refer to this Discussion: Can't Install Required Software Update - Apple Community

As for Software Update being stuck at "Checking for updates..." with no end in sight, it may or may not be related but it's also a bug. You may be able to get past that one.

Several workarounds have been proposed, such as restarting your Mac in "Safe Mode" and checking for updates while in that mode, and / or resetting NVRAM.
