I cannot get the contact names to display when receiving messages in my Macbook Pro M2. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you.

Hey Thop80418,

If you haven't already, close the Messages app and then restart the Mac. For steps on closing the Messages app follow steps below. For future reference, steps are also in this article: Quit apps on Mac.

To quit an app, choose App Name > Quit App in the menu bar. For example, choose Preview > Quit Preview (or press the keyboard shortcut Command-Q).

Keep in mind that if you click the Close button  in the top-left corner of an app’s window, the window closes, but the app remains open (a small dot below the app’s icon in the Dock indicates that the app’s open).

To restart the Mac, follow the steps below or in this article: Shut down or restart your Mac.

On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Restart.
If you don’t want app windows that are open to reopen when your Mac restarts, deselect “Reopen windows when logging back in.”

If the steps above do not resolve the issue, test in safe mode by following the steps here: Start up your Mac in safe mode. Safe mode helps determine if issue is related to software that loads when the Mac boots up. After testing in safe mode, restart normally and check to see if issue is resolved.

Hope this helps. Take care.
