Apple music stopped playing

I was listening to music and Apple music just stopped. Now every time I try and restart playing it tries to stream but just stops. No errors come up and I have restarted everything without any success.


Any ideas why or how to fix?

Thanks for getting back to us and letting us know what's happening ilutz69.


We'd like to have you try restarting your Mac in safe mode. When restarting in safe mode it's expected that your Mac will boot up slower. Safe mode is doing sort of a checks and balances while starting up, something similar to First Aid. Once you are at your desktop, see if you can open the Music app. If Music opens without any issues, then restart your Mac to get it back to normal mode, and test Music again.


If you still need help, reach back out and let us know what happened in safe mode.

Let’s begin by making sure to get your Mac updated to macOS 13.1. Update macOS on Mac


Use Software Update
Before installing new software, it's a good idea to back up your Mac.
1. From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen:
• Choose System Settings. Then click General in the sidebar, and Software Update on the right.
• Or choose System Preferences. Then click Software Update.
2. If Software Update finds new software, click the Update Now or Upgrade Now button to install it.
3. Enter your administrator password, if asked. During installation, your Mac might restart, and you might see a progress bar or blank screen several times.
4. If Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, then no new software is currently available for your Mac model. Software Update shows only updates and upgrades that are compatible with your Mac.


Do you find this happens only when streaming music? Are you able to download any music? 


Also, if you haven’t already, we’d like to have you sign out of the Music app and back in. You’ll do that in by clicking on Account in the menu bar and then Sign Out.
