Siri's Voice in Carplay is Robotic

Since updating to IOS 16.2, Siri's voice on Carplay is monotone and robotic. Changing Siri's voice does not change anything. Without Carplay, Siri's voice sounds fine. If I activate Siri via steering wheel, car touchscreen or phone touchscreen, no difference, robotic voice. If I unplug the phone and do the same thing, Siri's voice sounds fine. I use Waze for directions.

I have an Iphone 13 running ios 16.2

I have a 2017 Honda Civic

Thank you for your help

This happens if I ask it to read Messages, use Siri prompt. It hapoens in both of my cars. My wife's phone (iPhone 11 ios16) works fine.

I have deleted both cars from CarPlay settings, rebooted, same problem. Weird robotic voice.

Hi MycroftVoodoo,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! You mentioned this happens when using a third party app. To help isolate the issue, does the same occur if using Maps as listed below:

Get turn-by-turn directions with CarPlay

1. With Maps open in CarPlay, do one of the following:
Select a place you saved as a favorite. (See Save favorite places in Maps on iPhone.)
Select Destinations, then select a recent destination or scroll to select a destination you saved in a collection. (See Organize places in My Guides in Maps on iPhone.)
Select Search, then select the Microphone button to speak a search phrase, or select the Keyboard button to use the onscreen keyboard (if available). You can also select a destination from a category of nearby services, such as Parking or Restaurants.
2. If multiple routes appear, use your vehicle’s controls to select the route you prefer.
3. To call your destination before you leave, select the Phone button.
4. To start turn-by-turn directions, select Go.

Thanks.

Hi MycroftVoodoo,

Thanks for the update. If you haven't already, we suggest reaching out to the car manufacturer to see if there are any firmware updates available, as that may help clear up the issue.

Should the issue persist, we suggest you contact Apple Support. They'll be able to look into this with you further. You can reach out to Apple Support using the following link: Contact - Official Apple Support

Have a great day!
