App saying “open” instead of “install”

A few days ago i deleted the app because i didn have enough storage for something else. Now when i have, i decided to reinstall it and the App Store is saying open but its not downloaded. Also the app is showing on my home screen as a white icon with lines and circles. When i try to open it, nothing happens(same in the AppStore) and when i try to delete it, it comes back everytime i restart my phone. Help?

Hello m6543,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand you have an app that isn't opening, installing, or deleting properly. Let's walk through some steps together to get it working again. First, you will need to get it properly deleted to install it. The 'white grid icon' you see for it indicates the reinstallation did not complete properly. We understand you tried deleting it, but upon restarting your iPhone it reappeared. Let's go through the steps to delete.

Remove apps from iPhone

  1. Touch and hold the app on the Home Screen, tap Remove App.
  2. Then tap Delete App to delete it from iPhone.

We notice you posted you have iOS 14 installed. You will want to make sure it is the latest iOS 14 version. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to make sure.

Once the app appears deleted, go ahead and try to reinstall it from the App Store. Reply back how it goes.

Best regards.
