I have bought a Mac studio M1 max with 32 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD.
When copying 900 GB from one USB-disc to another it says it takes about 4 hours.. Why is this?

The USB disks themselves are probably the bottleneck.
If they support only USB2, it will be slow, no matter which mac you use.
What are the drives, and also how are they formatted?

There are many fixes between Monterey 12.2 and 12.6.2 that maybe associated with this slow usb drives
The drives are Western digital passports with usb C and A connections (but should be 5-10 Gb/s due to USB 3.0). They are way quicker on my MacAir laptop (ca. 5 years old)… I think this is strange
I have always formatted my disks «Mac os x extended». This has always been working well on my 5K Retina 27-inch late 2014
