Apple Mail not displaying older Yahoo! email

Hello.

I am using Apple Mail client on desktop (Mac Pro), iPhone (iPhone 14 Pro Max) and iPad (iPad Pro 11" M1). My Apple Mail client is set to get mail from my Yahoo!, Gmail and AOL accounts. All accounts are working but for some reason the Yahoo account is only displaying mail from 2021 to the current date even though I have had the account since 2010. No mail prior to 2021 appear. Another unusual bit is that Apple mail displays that I have 10,000 mails in my Yahoo! account, but when I go to to my Yahoo! account from a browser, it shows that I have 63,000 emails. Strange.

Here's what I've done so far:

Logged into my Yahoo! account from a web browser and I am able to see all of my mail back to 2010.
Submitted an email restore request to Yahoo! (even though its really not relevant). The restore was done and made no difference.
Removed and re-added the Yahoo! account from Apple Mail.

This is happening on all of my devices (listed above) on Apple Mail. Desktop and all devices are all updated to the most current OS versions. I have also confirmed that this behavior is consistent on older versions of macOS as well, including Mojave, BigSur and Monterey.

Anyone else having this issue? Feels like since it's happening on multiple devices across 3 different OSs and only Yahoo!, it's probably not an issue isolated only to me. Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

Hi rpalacio,

We'll be glad to go over this with you. Seeing how it's only affecting the Yahoo account, and is happening on multiple separate platforms, this is likely an issue on Yahoo's end. While speculation it could be a compatibility issue with the Apple specific Mail applications on your different devices or something that affects them all.

One way to test that would be to try out some sort of 3rd party mail client and see if it happens there as well.

While we can't recommend any specific client, we would recommend reaching out to Yahoo. They can help confirm compatibility with Apple products and see if they have any setting recommendations to assist.

I was thinking the same thing. I forgot to mention this in my original post, but I strongly considered trying a different mail client, but I have privacy concerns with syncing my mail account with someone's cloud service. Don't want snooping in my personal emails and receiving ads based on my email content. For example, I downloaded and began trying to configure my Yahoo! account with Microsoft Outlook. During the configuration process I was confronted with: "For better experience, your messages, events, and contacts will be synced to the Microsoft Cloud." And there is no was to opt out of this. So, I just abandoned the idea of trying Outlook. As I looked at other clients like Spark and Spike, I couldn't find any disclosure on their sites on how they deal with your personal data. So, to this point I have not yet been able to test 3rd party clients yet. Do you have any recommendations?
