Does AppleCare+ cover scratches on AirPods Max?

I’m debating whether or not I’m getting AppleCare+ for my new AirPods Max.

I’ve read that they scratch easily if dropped, etc.

Does anyone know if AppleCare+ would cover such scratches since it doesn’t affect the functionality of the headphones?
