Can I copy photos in a Shared Library to my Personal Library? If so, how?

My wife and I have a Shared Library, so that photos taken on our phones are accessible wherever we are.

She has a TON of old photos, so we do maintain additional physical backups of our Personal Library as well.

Although my new photos are automatically added to that Personal Library (it is on my laptop), hers are not.

Is it possible to copy her new photos from the Shared Library into my Personal Library?

I really want a single master library that we can back up, both on iCloud and elsewhere.

Thanks!

Greetings BeastVan,

Here are a couple articles on a shared photo library -

What is iCloud Shared Photo Library in Photos on Mac?

How to use iCloud Shared Photo Library

Neither discusses how to save photos from the shared library to your personal library, so let’s try a couple things and see if that is an option.

Though this is not an automatic process, if you open the Shared Album and select an image, then right/secondary click on it. Do you have an option to ‘Import’ the photo? That’s a start in letting us know if any of the photos can be saved.

If so, then let’s try doing multiple at one time or even selecting multiples and then dragging them over to your personal library in the side bar of the Photos app.

Thanks.
