Mac OS Ventura File Transfer Speed is like USB 2.0 now

I updated this week to Ventura, I am a photographer, and now when I connect my XQD cards to download images, they take 5 times as long to download the cards? It will now scan the card, prepare the files for copying and then takes forever to download? Am I the only one having these issues?

Painfully slow transfer speeds with built-in SD card reader on M1 MacBook Pro Hi there! I'm hoping someone might know why the built-in SD card reader is so slow on my new M1. I'm transferring raw photos via Lightroom Classic from a SanDisk Ultra PLUS memory card (V10 128GB 130MB/s) to my M1 using the built-in SD card reader. The result is painfully slow, approximately 30-45 seconds for each 60MB photo. I've got 900 photos to transfer tonight. I've tried using external card readers (even one that has a USB-A connector) and they're all somehow significantly faster. I'm on the latest version of macOS (Ventura 13.4.1). I've seen in other threads like this one (see pages 5 and 6) that a solution to some people's problems is to update their OS (to Monterey 12.2 or later) but yeah, I'm on 13.4.1 so that hasn't worked for me. My Lightroom is also up to date. I've tried a few other old cards and they're also struggling. I'm wondering if it's a card problem, not a card reader problem, and if I should just upgrade to something faster. I know my SanDisk Ultra PLUS isn't exactly the fastest card out there. That said, it should still be transferring faster than it is. Does anyone know of a solution to up the transfer speeds or has anyone found that upgrading to a faster card like the Lexar Professional 1667X has helped? Thanks so much.

Slow Upload from CF Express Card or SD Card When I upload from an external Card via a Card Reader to my iMac it takes a long time to transfer files up to half an hour for around 300 files. When I use the same Card and Car reader to Upload to Macbook Pro the file upload takes a couple of minutes or less with the CF express card. I have tried using USB and Thunderbolt connections on the iMac and it makes no difference. I guessing the issue lies with the iMac. Has anyone got any thoughts or suggestions what might be causing this ? Thank you

Ventura SD Card Bug When transferring video files from an SDXC memory card (formatted in Sony A7SIII camera) inserted into the Mac Studio's slot, the process will freeze part way through, with the only solution being to forcibly remove the card. Sometimes the transfer progress bar window will not show up, and other times it will even cause finder and all other apps to become unresponsive. I only notice this happening since Ventura 13.1 and 13.2. These cards are working properly on other devices and are not corrupted. Can someone from Apple please lend me some insight? I'm wondering if I need to install an older OS. Thanks!

Hold down the Option key and choose System Information … from the Apple menu.

Select the USB section and see if your card shows the max speed down around USB 2 speeds. If so, is there anything else on that bus that might be USB2. I’ve seen hubs drop to USB2 speed across the board if a single USB 2 device was attached.

Shows USB 3.1 Bus. Great thought, thank you for that reply, I didn’t even think about that, but still lags.

Not the bus. Find the card on the bus and look at the max speed. It could be throttled. The bus will still have its type as USB 3.1 regardless of the speed of individual devices.
