Can I add transit cards of the country I'm visiting to my Apple Wallet?

Here's a more detailed information.

I'm from the Philippines and Apple Pay isn't a thing here yet. I can't add any of my credit/debit card to Apple Wallet as well, as the banks here don't support it yet.

I'm traveling to Singapore and Japan soon and am wondering if I could at least add their transit cards into my Apple Wallet? Will I be able to add the Singapore MRT card or Japan's Suica/Pasmo as transit cards in Apple Wallet when I get there?

There are no options to add transit cards when I'm tapping "Add Card" on Apple Wallet. So is it a location thing? If I'm already in SG/JP, and my phone detects that I am in SG/JP. Will the option of adding the transit cards be available? And will I be able to use my Apple Watch S7 to tap on to NFC readers to pay? (of course with the cards added to my Apple Wallet already)?

Thank you in advance

Hi Mercuuuuu,

For help with adding transit card, view the information for the requirements to use the feature below, and found in the article here: Add a transit card to Apple Wallet

"To ride transit using Apple Pay, you need:

  • A compatible iPhone or Apple Watch. Check with your transit agency to see which models are supported.
  • The latest version of iOS and watchOS.
  • An Apple ID signed in to iCloud.
  • To be in a location where you can use Apple Pay to ride transit.

To add a new transit card, you need an eligible payment card in the Wallet app."

The article here also has helpful information: Where you can ride transit using Apple Pay

Cheers.
