How to add an Australian Opal Card to Apple Wallet?

I was hoping to get some help adding an Opal travel card to my Apple wallet in Australia. When adding a transit card, Australia does not show up as a country in the list and when using the search function opal does not yield a result.

Tried to add my OPAL card to iPhone wallet iOS 17.2.1. Countries showing include China, Hong Kong, Japan and USA only - no Australia.

If the bank issuing the card does not support Apple Pay, the card cannot be added to Apple Wallet.
