External USB Microphone stuttering with M1 Macbook Pro

We understand that your mic is stuttering when using with your new MacBook Pro. To address this behavior restart your Mac in safe mode where start up are limited to run and there is a health check performed on the startup disk.

Apple silicon

1. Shut down your Mac.

2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.

3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”

4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

Which external microphone are you using? If you have not done so already, update your Mac to macOS 13.1 and then update the software/drivers for your external microphone.

If the issue persists, disconnect the external microphone and test with the internal microphone of the Mac to isolate the issue further.

You might also want to set up a new administrator account on your Mac and then test the external microphone. This will tell you if you have a system-wide issue or one that is user-specific. Follow this link for the steps: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac
