Movies won't play in itunes

I have movies in my itunes library on my Windows 10 computer that won't play. It will show the movie screen with the options to "play" "extras" etc. but once I click play, the window goes black like it's ready to start playing but it just sits there. It's in play mode (not stopped) but the movie doesn't advance any and it won't allow me to choose any place along the "play line" to advance the movie to.

Any ideas how this can be fixed? Some of the movies are watchable via my Movies Anywhere account but the ones I bought from the itunes store (about half of my library) will not because Movies Anywhere doesn't work with those movie studios.

iTunes version: 12.12.7.1

It's a common problem for those of us who wish to continue watching movies purchased in iTunes on a Windows PC. All evidence available from interactions I've had with them regarding my purchased movies not functioning in Windows 10/11 has led me to believe that they are only interested in supporting Apple tools via Apple systems.

I've tried all the steps I can think of to reset and reinstall software - Apple and Microsoft alike. Used different PCs, different versions of Windows, different versions of iTunes. Movies (either streamed or downloaded) lag and hop between scenes. We have reasonably powerful Windows devices and run a 1gb network with good security.

Apple have not been able to provide a solution but, as referenced previously, I really don't think that it's a priority for them. Fair play - business is business - but I've bought and paid for something so I intend to get continued value out of it.

I hope you find a solution and will be keen to learn of it if you do.
