“Software Update Available” but “iPadOS is up to date”

I recently updated to 16.2 and had this issue. Rebooting did not work, but turning off automatic updates and then turning it back on got rid of the red button alert.

In my case rebooting the device doesn’t help, and this a very (visually) ugly and annoying issue

Is your iPad a model than not supposed to be updated to iOS 16.2?

if that the case, that is the reason. It happen to me, iPad Pro 12.9” (A1584) now, I don’t know how to fix it.

Great advice. Apple should take note of it, as rebooting does not solve this problem.
