Apple Super drive failure

Recently, I am unable to burn a DVD on my external apple super drive. It gets to the verification stage and then I get this message:

This disc can't be verified and might be unreliable. Try again

using a new blank disc (error code OxFFFFFFFF80020063).

I haven't had any problems until now and this super drive is only about 1 year old and is connected to my Mac mini, which also is about 1 year old. I am trying to archive folders which include Adobe illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign files. Anyone else have this problem? I google this error code and did not get any adequate answer that solve this issue.

Mac mini, macOS 12.6

I would see if another brand of disk makes a difference.

Verbatim have been historically good, but a web site that rates media quality also suggests that big-name disk retailers don't have their own factories so buy bespoke disks from vendors; vendors can change thus changing the quality.

This is the site:

https://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/dvd-media.htm

⚠️ HOWEVER, I offer that site for its explanation of the blank DVD business, NOT its recommendations. I cannot find when the site was last updated. The rating info may not be current. Dates shown in some of the charts are no newer than 2011!

Another option: An optical drive-cleaning disk might be worth a try. Slot-load drives get filthy. I have cleaning disk that cost me US$10 years ago that has resurrected three internal Apple SuperDrives that Apple techs had pronounced dead and in need of replacing for about $150 part and labor, and that was 15+ years ago. Ir also cured a static problem on a DVD player connectd to out TV. I'd say that disk was a bargain!

Took it down to apple store and it worked for them! Brought it back to office and it worked! So not sure what happened. Maybe a piece of dust got knocked. A coworker with another super drive with a different error message did not work at the apple store. Since it's still under warranty, they will give us a new one.
