"My model A1379 Superdrive works with my MacBook Pro but does not work with my newly purchased MacBook Air. Two hours with Apple Support could not resolve the problem. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue."

Troubleshooting Superdrives:
Some thoughts:
A. Macs with Media Drives:
If the Mac has a builtin media drive, then a Superdrive will just not work.
B. Is there a Superdrive even seen?:
To Find Out:
- Go to: Apple menu
- Select: About this Mac
- Click: System Report... button
- View: Hardware on left-column
- Click: Disc Burning
- Confirm if a Superdrive is Even Seen
C. Try Using a New Administrator User:
See what happens when you create a new Administrator User and login to it and perform this. If it works, then it is something misconfigured in your current user.
D. Connect to a Different Computer:
Connect this to a difference computer, seeing if you can get it out.
