Differing album display in itunes

In itunes, my music library is ordered by album. For example, I have Albinoni: 12 Concerti as the 4th album in my library. Below that Album title is the artist: I Musici. However, when I view my iPhone sync display, that same album is now ordered as I Musici - Albinoni: 12 Concerti. This renders the exercise of ordering my album collection useless. What is worse, many of my multi-disc sets not ordered properly, showing only one disc of the set, or showing the albums in reverse. This is deeply frustrating. I really do not want to have to go back and edit my music library because apple has elected to use two different sorts!

What am I missing? Why is the phone sync list ordered differently than the album list?

Hello bgalivan,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Playlists on iPhone show up in the order the songs were added to the playlist. Also, if the song didn't have the artist listed may lead to a different order. Check

that every song looks the same (All of them have the artist listed or all of them don't have it). Having different names for songs on the same album example song 1 or 1 can mess up the sequence.
