Ventura 13.1 update - accepts non-admin credentials
I've just updated to macOS Ventura 13.1. I was using a "Standard" user account. Before starting the update I got a dialog saying:
"Software Update is trying to authenticate user.
Enter an administrator's name and password to allow this."
I entered the usual admin credentials. But instead of starting the update the dialog wiggled to indicate the credentials were incorrect. I did that three times then decided to try credentials of the standard account I was then using. That was accepted.
I thought software updates could only be installed with admin credentials. Why are admin credentials rejected and standard credentials accepted ?
Thanks.
