Music player pausing briefly between songs after iOS 16.2 update (same problem as 15.4)

Had this same problem after 15.4:

I noticed immediately after the 16.2 iOS update that the music player doesn't consistently move from track to track seemlessly like it should. It inserts a very brief pause between

songs after every other track. Naturally this is very annoying when listening to music that

moves seemlessly from one song to another, such as during a live

recording. This also occurred in 15.4 and was fixed in 15.5, but the problem has reoccurred.

FYI, using another music player like Foobar2000 can bypass this problem.
