Hi NYCurry,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you're unable to play videos on the internet since updating the iOS, correct?

What happens when you attempt to play video? Do you see an alert? If so, what does the message say?

Does this happen when you're connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or cellular data?

Do you happen to have any VPN software installed? If so, do you experience the same behavior if you uninstall the VPN?

If you're using Safari to play videos, you can also clear your website data as outlined here: If Safari isn't loading websites or quits on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

"Connect to a different network

Try to load a website, like www.apple.com, using cellular data. If you don't have cellular data, connect to a different Wi-Fi network and then load the website.

If you're using a VPN (Virtual Private Network), check your VPN settings. If you have a VPN turned on, some apps or websites might block content from loading.

Restart your device

Turn off your device and turn it on again.

Clear website data

You can clear website data occasionally to improve Safari performance.

  1. Go to Settings > Safari.
  2. Tap Clear History and Website Data.
  3. Tap Clear History and Data to confirm.

Turn on JavaScript

Turn on JavaScript if it's not already on.

  1. Go to Settings > Safari > Advanced.
  2. Find the JavaScript feature.
  3. Tap the button to turn on JavaScript.

Get more help

If the issue continues and only affects a certain website or webpage, check if you have Private Relay turned on. You can temporarily turn off Private Relay in iCloud Settings. If Safari still doesn't load websites and you tried all of these steps, contact the website developer for more help."

We look forward to your reply.

Cheers!

I already reached out to YouTube twice. They said it was a known issue on iPhones since the update. So is Apple doing anything on their end or just pointing to the app -as the issue? I know how to work with an app when there’s an issue and thoroughly exhausted that option prior to seeking Apple help. Clearly, Apple is not that interested in resolving the real issue.

NYCurry,

Thanks for providing those additional details. If only experiencing issues with watching videos in the YouTube app, we'd recommend going through any step you haven't already tried from the following resource that can help with troubleshooting this issue further: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support

1. Close and reopen the app
Force the app to close. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

2. Restart your device
Restart your iPhone or restart your iPad. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

3. Check for updates
To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, then scroll down to see if updates are available. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your iPhone or iPad.

4. Delete the app, then redownload it
Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

While we understand you may not be having issues with the app quitting unexpected or not responding, the steps listed above can help with troubleshooting other issues you may be experiencing in third-party apps as well.

If you continue to run into issues after the steps above, and the issue is only occurring in the YouTube app, the next best option would be to continue working with YouTube's support.

Take care!

Hello NYCurry,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We want to make sure the software is working as expected. If you don't have any pending iOS updates available at this time, reaching the developer is your best next step:

"When to contact an app developer for help

  • If an app isn't working, but the issue doesn't affect other apps
  • If you can't use an in-app purchase, such as a bonus game level or "remove ads"

Contact the developer of an iOS, iPadOS, or watchOS app

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Search for the app, then tap it. If you can't find it, tap the account button  or your photo at the top of the screen, tap Purchased, tap "Not on this [device]," then tap the app.
  3. The app's product page appears. Scroll to the Ratings & Reviews section, then tap App Support. If you don't see App Support, make sure that you're signed in with the correct Apple ID."

We hope this helps to connect with the developer and further isolate and resolve the source of the issue.

Cheers!
