Unsupported Mac ?

Hi,

I wish to start learning and develop App for Mac device. I.e. xCode and Swift. I got a MacBook Pro 17” 2011 with High Sierra installed. A Very fast machine.

I even tried to boot on a LIVE CD UBUNTU 20.04 and everything works fine.

But with Monterey 12.6.1 Camera (FaceTime) and Bluetooth (Airdrop) bug.

So why such a powerful hardware can’t get the latest MacOS ?

Furthermore I have read that app with xCode and Swift versions for High Sierra might not run on new Mac device.

Don’t you think it is inadmissible to trash such a nice piece of hardware ?

And the WebSite SellYourMac evaluate the Laptop at a ridiculous $39 !!!

Therefore I am asking Apple and the developers to cease this politic of Programmed Obsolescence !! Because it is not environment friendly.

Thank you

So if you consider a 2011 computer not old enough to stop supporting, how old would be acceptable to you? New operating systems require newer hardware. Your old $39 computer just is not up to the task of supporting new operating systems or apps.
