Hey ellie2847,

First, we'd recommend reviewing the information in this article as it provides options for deleting emails on Mac Mail: Delete emails in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

"Delete an email

  1. In the Mail app  on your Mac, select a message.
  2. Click the Delete button  in the Mail toolbar or move the pointer over the message’s header, then click the Delete button that appears.
  3. Tip: To prevent the next message in the list from being automatically selected (and marked as read), press and hold the Option key when you delete the message.

If you set the “Move discarded messages” option to Trash in Viewing settings in Mail, you can delete a message by swiping left on the trackpad with two fingers or by moving the pointer over a Mail notification, then clicking Delete (or the Trash icon)."

If that's not working as expected, you may want to provide some additional information about the issue to help narrow that down further.

What happens when you try to delete one of those emails?

Is this happening with emails for one email address only, or are multiple email accounts affected?

Which email provider are you using for the email address that is having the issue? Is it an @iCloud.com or at gmail.com account, or something else?

Thanks!

Hi ellie2847,

Thanks for letting us know. To test with your Gmail account, you can sign into webmail for Google and test there to see if the same thing happens. Knowing where this is coming from can help with next steps. For an iCloud email, you can test that with the iCloud website as well: iCloud

Another thing you can try to help isolate this issue is to log into your MacBook Pro in a temporary new user, then add your email account and test in the Mail app. This article shows how to do that, if needed: Change Users & Groups settings on Mac A new user doesn't have custom or changed settings, and can also help determine possible next steps by isolating this further. Does the same issue happen in a new user as well?

We look forward to learning what you find when doing those steps.

Take care.

Everything you offered from, Apple's support article, was done prior to this happening. So standard ways to delete have not worked. After the attempt, the email seems to disappear for a fraction of a second and then reappears in the same spot. I don't know if my gmail account is affected, but my apple.com address, I believe, is. I will have to get back to you if and when it happens again.

Thanks for your help!
