Mac streaming services show black screen when playing video on computer

Hello,

Recently every time I play a video on ANY streaming service on ANY browser it just shows a black screen, but the audio plays just fine... I tried to update computer, change browsers, nothing works. NO viruses.

As is, I'm writing this as the newest version of the software is downloading to update, I have no idea if that will actually solve the problem, but I'm VERY curious to hear a specific explanation as to why this issue of audio-only-no-video with streaming services is happening. The previews for any movie or show work fine, but the actual playback of the title itself, are only audio with a black screen. This applies to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and even when I attempt to use the Dish Anywhere website (my cable service provider's standalone website that allows you to access your saved DVR programs). How is this suddenly an issue, and ONLY by updating the software can it possibly be corrected? I had no problems with any of the services mentioned previously, UNTIL Apple released an update. WHAT CHANGED?? Please be specific in your response, and please do not close this question prematurely.

All streaming video blank screen with audio Upgraded to macOS Ventura, all streaming services videos go black screen with just audio playing. The same happens for Safari, Chrome and Firefox. This includes Netflix and Amazon Prime Video services. I can't use any of these services. Tried clearing caches and cookies for all browsers, but no help. Any idea if there is a setting from macOS which might be causing this?

MacBook Pro on Ventura Showing Black Screen for videos I recently updated to Ventura and my MacBook Pro will not show YouTube TV, Hulu, or any streaming service videos. It will play sound but it will be a black screen. when I click something, I see the video for a split second, then it goes black as the sound continues to play. Youtube, Twitch and other videos on Facebook work fine. I do not know what to do!

Hello Ccunn123,

If your video playback is not working properly, you'll want to start with the basics of restarting the device and making sure it's up to date.

Shut down or restart your Mac

Update macOS on Mac

Then test out safe mode to rule out software issues: Start up your Mac in safe mode

You can also test out another user account on the computer to see if the same issue happens there or not: Add a user or group on Mac

If you're still unable to play videos, then you'll want to contact Apple to report the issue: Get Support
