MacBook Pro M1 external monitor yellow cast

I have two M1 Macbook Pro 13 in and they both show a yellow cast on an external monitor. This goes away when using them in clamshell mode. However, using clamshell permanently can damage the battery I'm told.

Is there any solution to this problem? It didn't happen with my old Intel Macbook Pro.
