Dark horizontal (dark) stripe on m2 macbook air display.

I got my m2 MacBook Air yesterday and notice a kind of wore out dark strip when the display is mainly white. (As you can see on the horizontal axis between the red arrows.)

However, I didn't notice it when watching videos or regular works, just when I'm working with Microsoft office where the display is mainly white that I notice that with my bare eyes.

Is this a problem I should concern? Thank you.

Hello, monoCatZ.

It doesn't look like an issue to us from here, but photos can be a bit trickier to diagnose from than seeing it in person. If this is a major concern for you, it might be a good idea to have the display inspected. We want to make sure you reach the right team for help with your device, so we recommend that you contact Apple Support directly. Depending on your region, you may be able to reach them here: Get Support.

Before doing so, we'd advise that you check a few possibilities:

    1. Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support - Sometimes a restart can resolve unexpected visual behavior.
    2. Remove any protective films you may have on the monitor or case of your Mac.
    3. Move your Mac to another location and see if the line persists there. Inside, outside, in an environment free of a lot of other electronic devices.

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities and have a wonderful day.

Seeing that you just got this MacBook air, I would set up a Genius Bar reservation and have Apple themselves evaluate the screen issue. You have up to 14 days to return the MacBook for any reason.

Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple

If it's deemed by Apple that this is a hardware issue (be sure to show them the white screen with the dark bar), it will be repaired or exchanged. If you return the MacBook within the 14-day period and exchange it for another model of the exact same specifications, you can avoid the repair or replacement since you'll be getting a brand new unit.

This is the route I would take.

Thank you for the photo.
