why does mac ventura 13.0.1 not find the chromecast device as it did before the update

since i updated to ventura 13.0.1 on dec 3, 2022, the bluetooth on my mac will not find the chromecast device as it has always done prior. Is this due to the new update? I have rebooted twice, but to no avail.

iMac 24″, macOS 13.0

Hello riverdog22,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Are these the steps you followed?

"Connect a Bluetooth device

  1. Make sure the device is turned on and discoverable (see the device’s documentation for details).
  2. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Bluetooth  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
  3. Hold the pointer over the device in the list, then click Connect.
  4. If asked, click Accept (or enter a series of numbers, then press Enter).

You can also connect a Bluetooth device to your Mac by clicking the Bluetooth status icon  in the menu bar and choosing the device. If the icon isn’t shown in the menu bar, you can add it using Control Center settings."

More details can be found here: Connect a Bluetooth device with your Mac

If the issue persists, can you provide a few more details? Are you able to connect other Bluetooth devices to your Mac? Does the Chromecast work with other devices?

Cheers!
