Airpods Pro 2gen. VS Iphone XS(max) - disconnection problems

Whenever i get called while using my Airpods pro's it disconnects from the phone.

It takes about 20-30 seconds for them to reconnect.

Even after 16.1.2 i have the same problem.

AP's firmware: 5B58

I've tried to reset the AP's and the Iphone without further luck.

My 1gen pro works fine on XS max, and my 2gen connected to another phone (that's not Xs/Xs max) works fine...

PLS FIX ASAP :)

Hello mats25,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We want to help resolve the issue so your AirPods stay connected. Although the title doesn't match the exact issue, try the steps here to help resolve the connection issue so they stay connected during the call.

"If you can't connect to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Make sure that your iPhone or iPod touch has the latest version of iOS or that your iPad has the latest version of iPadOS.
  2. Put both AirPods in the charging case and make sure that both AirPods are charging.
  3. To make sure that Bluetooth is on, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
  4. If your AirPods are connected, make sure that they're selected as your audio device. If your AirPods appear in the list of devices but they don't connect, go to the next step.
  5. Close the lid, wait 15 seconds, then open the lid. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the charging case for up to 10 seconds. The status light on the front of the charging case should flash white, which means that your AirPods are ready to connect.
  6. Hold the charging case, with your AirPods inside and the lid open, next to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  7. Follow the steps on the screen of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  8. Test your AirPods. If you still can't connect, reset your AirPods."

Even though you've already tried some of these steps, we hope this can help quickly resolve the connection issue causing the AirPods to disconnect during the call.

Cheers!

I am having the same exact problem. I have done every fix mentioned on this thread and others including rebuilding my phone from scratch and swapping out the AirPods pro at the genius bar. There is nothing we can do. We paid for a brick I am back using wired headphones that plug into my phone. You can file feedback at this point as that is the only recourse we have. www.apple.com/feedback/

The original post describes the issue perfectly. I’ve noticed that sometimes they will disconnect and reconnect at random typically once in a listening session as well.

Apple still supports iPhone XS (Max) and I’m confused why the support on this is so hard to get. This AP Pro 2’s are the company’s top of the line product for wireless earbuds. The company also is positioned as the premium brand for consumer devices and software. The experience should be one either already resolved or one that can be resolved with better support.

Can Apple please get this issue addressed?

I have fulfilled every single troubleshooting step and can confirm that device firmware/OS is up to date. I have even reinstalled the BT module component, followed with a hard reset, and maintained only the AP’s as the only BT connected device and this issue still persists. This is a problem that Apple needs to address.
