Can't edit any steps in shortcuts on Home App on Ventura

I am trying to create an automation in the Home App that uses the 'convert to shortcut' option.

When I try to add any kind of step to the shortcut, I generally can't edit anything in the actual step itself.

There are a couple obvious examples

  • When trying to Get the status of a device in Homekit, I can't change the actual variable of interest. For example, if I try to get information about my Thermostat, there are lots of variables I could return such as Current Temp, Humidity, State of AC etc. But I can't select those - clicking on them in the dropdown does nothing
  • When adding an 'If' statement, I can't select any 'inputs'. The menu that pops up says 'loading' but it never loads

All of the above steps work fine on my iPhone for this same home. If I create an automation from my iPhone and then open it on my Mac, the same thing occurs as above. I can't actually change any of the inputs or variables.

Hopefully this GIF shows what I mean (note - I setup some shortcut steps prior to the GIF, but same thing happens if I start from scratch).

I'm on Ventura 13.0.1 on a 2020 13-inch Macbook Pro.

The Home App is Version 7.0 (681.2.3.4.1).

Thanks for getting back to me but none of the linked information seems to be helpful.

Is there any additional information in my original message that you need to see the exact problem? The gif shows the exact issue, I'm not sure how much more information I can provide.

I click on a variable in the shortcut, try to change it and nothing happens.

Hi daysy_12,

Since it sounds like you're trying to edit shortcuts on your Mac, we recommend that you try the steps here: Intro to editing shortcuts on Mac - Apple Support

As you build your shortcut collection, there are a number of ways you can organize and edit shortcuts. You can:

*Reorder shortcuts so that the ones you use most appear first in the Shortcuts app, in the Shortcuts widget on iOS and iPadOS, and on Apple Watch

*Quickly duplicate a shortcut for use as the starting point of a new shortcut

*Delete shortcuts you no longer need

*Share shortcuts, and customize a shared shortcut’s information so that no personal data is shared

*Sync shortcuts between devices

*Create folders to organize shortcuts into custom categories

We recommend the steps above because they will show you how to edit shortcuts on your Mac.

If the link above has nothing to do with the type of help you're seeking, please provide us with more information regarding the exact problem you're having with shortcuts on your Mac, and we'll do our best to help you find a solution.
