Will this work with ipads now that ipados 16 has released?

Hello, I was wondering if I could plug in my M1 ipad to an imac that supports target display, and use it as an external display for the ipad. The support page on apple’s site states that target display only works with macs, however this was before ipados 16 came out.

At present, iPadOS16 for iPad only supports basic screen mirroring to an external TV or connected monitor - via AirPlay, HDMI or DisplayPort over USB-C. Unless your computer monitor has an appropriate port by which to connect your iPad, you’ll not be able to use the monitor as an external display for iPad.

Full Stage Manager support for external monitors is not yet available. This feature is planned for release later this year:
